In Retrospect: 2011 A look back on an amazing year for the Cook Children's family.
January - Emergency room vistis hit record numbers as Tarrant County embarked on one of the coldest winters ever.
February - Cook Children's Teddy Bear Transport opened the doors at its new hangar and base of operations at Meacham International Airport in North Fort Worth.
March - Cook Children's 'bear-y' own Build-A-Bear Workshop officially opened for business.
April - Cook Children's began seeing patients at Southlake's first Pediatric Urgent Care and Specialty Clinic.
May - U.S. News & World Reports released its list of Best Children's Hospitals and Cook Children's ranked in 6 of the 10 specialties: Cancer, Diabetes/Endocrine, Gastroenterology, Neonatology, Neurology/Neurosurgery, Pulmonology.
June - The National Marrow Donor Program named Cook Children's Medical Center as one of the inaugural awardees in its Apheresis and Collection Center Awards Program.
July - The newly expanded Northside Neighborhood Clinic opened with three physicians and two nurse practitioners.
August - Camelot Court opened as the new place to dine at the Medical Center with a vastly expanded menu and Chick-fil-A.
September - Cook Children's new North Tower officially opened with the cut of a ribbon on September 6.
October - Cook Children's Home Health expanded the breadth of its services by opening a Dallas office.
November - Director of NICU, Barbara Greer, is named to Fort Worth Business Press' 2011 Great Women of Texas.
December - 398 volunteers provided 7,047 hours of service making the holiday season brighter for our patients by organizing gifts and helping at special events and patient parties throughout the month.
